Bonjour,

Mon nom est Olivier Lagacé (Olivier sur Facebook / Olivier sur Twitter). J’ai déjà provoqué plusieurs manifestations, pétitions et autres. En seulement quelques jours en 2009, j’ai aidé à obtenir 22 000 signatures pour le retour d’Alex Kovalev au sein de l'Équipe du Canadiens de Montréal. Cependant, aujourd’hui la situation est tout autre. 

Notre sport, celui que nous aimons devient de plus en plus violent. Les coups à la tête semblent permis de temps à autre, et il n’y a aucune stabilité dans le jugement des arbitres de la NHL et du comité de discipline à cet égard. Des coups vicieux, comme ceux à l’endroit de Crosby, Pacioretty et bien d’autres joueurs, ont été jugés comme des gestes accidentels. Certains joueurs ont été suspendus pour des raisons ridicules mais la ligue nationale de hockey, continue de fermer les yeux sur la majorité des gestes de coups à la tête.

En reprenant le concept de la ligue nationale : Si un joueur devait mourir d’un coup du genre, est-ce qu’à ce moment, l’histoire serait faite?

Jamais je ne critiquerais une solide mise en échec, d’épaule à épaule. Toutefois, certains gestes sont salauds et dangereux :  les partisans de n'importe quelle équipe de la LNH en conviendront. Cette saison Sidney Crosby a été frappé à la tête à deux reprises et souffre toujours de ces blessures qui lui ont causés beaucoup de dommages. Plusieurs autres joueurs ont aussi été victimes de coups à la tête. Peu importe qui ces geste impliquent, il DOIT y avoir suspension.

Lorsque vous signez cette pétition vous exigez que, lors de tout incident ayant causé la blessure d’un joueur pendant une partie de hockey de la LNH, il y ait :

- un jugement devant le comité de discipline de la ligue nationale de hockey.
- un jugement impartial quant aux antécédents du joueur (car un joueur salaud peut avoir été chanceux et donc jamais suspendu auparavant)
- un jugement impartial quant au statut du joueur (pas d’avantage pour un joueur vedette versus un joueur de soutien)
- dans le cas où le joueur est coupable : il aura une suspension pour la durée de convalescence du joueur blessé. (Le joueur impliqué ne retournera pas au jeu tant que le joueur blessé ne soit totalement rétabli. Si les gestes du joueur suspendu met fin à la carrière du joueur qu’il avait ciblé : le joueur fautif devra également mettre également fin à sa propre carrière.).

Vous demandez à ce que le jugement devant le comité de discipline de TOUT joueur soit télédiffusé afin de voir tous les témoignages. 

Vous demandez également qu’il y ait des experts, anciens joueurs de la LNH, entraîneurs et autres, afin de témoigner et d’apporter leurs observations. 

Un des cas de coups à la tête, le cas Pacioretty (4eme vertèbre du cou fracturé et sévère commotion cérébrale):

Le 8 mars, Max Pacioretty a été la cible de Zdeno Chara: Un jeune joueur de la LNH, ayant un avenir prometteur, a été gravement blessé par un geste vicieux et prémédité. (Pour connaître l’état de santé de Max, SVP visiter les sites des médias).

Voici le résumé des faits par Dany Dubé : '' Il harponne la rondelle et place donc Chara dans une position inconfortable, puisque celui-ci n'a plus le droit de le mettre en échec. Pacioretty, dans les circonstances, ne sent pas le besoin de se protéger. Il ouvre légèrement les épaules, essayant de se faufiler entre la rampe et le défenseur. Il anticipe un contact, mais pas une mise en échec. Au même moment, Chara lève le coude et, avec la main, agrippe partiellement Pacioretty par le chandail. Il pousse avec son avant-bras en utilisant ses jambes pour se propulser et projette Pacioretty contre le poteau de la baie vitrée.''

Dans le même cas, voici les points de vue de Joe Thorton ancien joueur des Bruins et H. Sedin.

Thorton affirme que la LNH favorise les Bruins.

« Il y a quelque chose avec Boston, on dirait que le processus disciplinaire est de leur côté », a dit Thornton. On a vu le double-échec de Milan Lucic au visage de Dominic Moore il y a quelques jours (le 3 mars dernier), et il n'y a rien eu au niveau disciplinaire. Je ne sais pas pourquoi c'est comme ça. Je ne pense pas que c'est parce que le fils de Colin Campbell joue pour cette équipe, mais c'est bizarre. » - Joe Thorton

Chara à affirmer ne pas  savoir que Max Pacioretty était sur la glace au moment de l’incident et dis ne jamais avoir eu l’intention de lui faire mal avec le poteau situer au milieu de la glace.

Voici ce qu’en pense un joueur étoile de la NHL, H. Sedin des caucks de Vancouvert :

H. Sedin ne croit pas aux arguments de Chara

« Que va-t-on faire la prochaine fois que Trevor Gillies ramasse un gars dans ce truc-là ? On ne pourra rien lui donner. Et on nous dit que Chara n'a pas d'antécédents, alors quand il recommencera il n'aura toujours pas d'antécédents parce qu'il n'a pas reçu de suspension ! Je ne comprends pas le raisonnement derrière cette décision. Donnez-lui au moins quelque chose pour montrer que ce geste n'est pas acceptable », a dit le Suédois au Vancouver Sun.

Le joueur vedette des Canucks ne s'est pas arrêté là. Il a ajouté qu'il ne pensait pas que Chara avait l'intention de blesser sérieusement Pacioretty, mais que ce n'était tout de même pas un accident si le joueur du Canadien avait heurté le poteau qui soutient la vitre.

« Je vais vous dire une chose : si tu dis que tu ne sais pas où les choses sont sur la glace autour de toi, alors tu ne dis pas la vérité. Tu as joué au hockey pendant 20 ans, tu sais que c'est là », a dit H. Sedin.

« Il faut suspendre les gars qui frappent à la tête, on en est rendu là. Il faut le faire même si les gars disent qu'ils ne l'ont pas fait exprès ou qu'ils affirment c'est un accident. Il faut bien commencer quelque part », a-t-il ajouté.

« Je ne crois pas que les joueurs savent où est la limite », a-t-il conclu.

My name is Olivier Lagacé. In the past, I already initiated a few manifestations and petitions in order to protest against things I did not want. In 2009, in only a few days, my petition resulted in 22 000 signatures for the return of Alex Kovalev within the Canadiens’ team in Montreal. However, today is another crucial question.

Our sport, the one we love is becoming more and more violent.  Attacks to the head seem permitted once in a while, and there is nothing stable in the judgement of the NHL’s referees as well as of the disciplinary committee.  Vicious hits at the head like those given to Crosby, Pacioretty and many other players, have been judged as accidental moves.  Some guilty players have been suspended for other ridiculous reasons, but still NHL closes his eyes on the majority of hits to the head.


If we base ourselves on the concept of the LHN, if ever a player dies from a hit to the head, would then have history been made?

I will never criticize a good and solid hit check, shoulder to shoulder.  However, certain moves are really vicious and dangerous: Any fan of whatsoever NHL’s team will admit this.  This season, Sidney Crosby has been hit at the head twice, and, he is still suffering from these injuries which have caused him much harm.  Many other players have also been victim of hits to the head. Never mind what result this act implies, there SHOULD be suspension of the guilty player.

When you sign this petition, you strongly wish that, when there is an incident causing injury to a player during a NHL hockey game, there be:

- A judgment in front of the disciplinary committee of the NHL;
- An impartial judgment towards the player’s antecedents (since a rude player might have   been lucky and never been suspended before).
- An impartial judgment towards the status of the player (that there be no special advantage towards a star player versus a support player.)
-In the case the player is found guilty: that there be a suspension for the length of time during which the victim is injured. (The implied player should not return to the game as long as the injured player is not completed rehabilitated). Moreover, if the player’s act causes the injured player to put an end to his career, the guilty player will have end his career too.)

You also ask that any judgment given to ANY player by the disciplinary Committee be shown on TV, so that we can be informed of all the testimonies.
We also ask that experts, former players of NHL, coaches and other pertinent persons, be invited in order that they deliver their testimonies and inform us of their notes.


In the case of hit to the head, in Pacioretty’s case: 4th vertebra in the neck broken and severe cranian trauma.


As you already know, Max Pacioretty has been Zdeno Chara’s victim Tuesday march  8th, 2011.  A young and talented player of the NHL with a brilliant career has been seriously injured by this vicious and voluntary attack. (For information on Max Pacioretty’s health, please visit the media sites).

Here is a summary of the facts by Dany Dubé: '' He pokes the puck thus placing Chara in an uncomfortable situation since this last one does not have the right to hit him. Pacioretty in these circumstances does not feel necessary to protect himself. He slightly opens his shoulders trying to force his way between the defender and the ramp. He anticipates a contact but not a hit check. At the same time, Chara lifts his elbow and, with his hand, partially grabs Pacioretty’s sweater. He pushes with this forearm using his legs to propel himself and pushes Pacioretty against the glass bay post.''

In the same case, here is the the point of view of Joe Thorton, a past player for the Bruins and H. Sedin.

Thorton says that the NHL has a preference for the Bruins.

« There is something strange with Boston : it seems that the disciplinary process in on their side, says Thorton.  We saw a double check hit of Milan Lucic to Dominic Moore’s face a few days ago (on march 3rd 2011), and nothing was done on a disciplinary level.  I do not why this is so.  I don’t think that it is due to the fact that Colin Campbell’s son plays for this team, but it indeed very strange.”  Joe Thorton.

Chara affirms that he did not know that Max Pacioretty was on the ice at the moment of the incident, as well as he had no intention to hurt him with the post in the middle of the bay.

Here is what a star player of the NHL thinks:  H. Sedin of the Vancouver Canuks :

H. Sedin does not believe Chara’s arguments :

What will we do the next time Trevor Gillies hits a guy this way? We will not be able to give him any punishment.  And now, we are told that Chara has not precedents, thus, when he will commit such an action again, he will not be punished since this time too he received no suspension and no fault will appear in his file!  I do not understand the reasons of this decision.  Give him at least a sanction to make it clear that such an action is unacceptable” said the Swedish player to the Vancouver Sun.

The Canucks’ star player did not stop here: He added that he did not believe that Chara had the intention to seriously injure Pacioretty, but it was still not an accident if the Canadien player was thrown against the post holding the glass pane.

“I am going to tell you something: if you say that you don’t know where things are on the ice around you, then you do not tell the truth.  You have been playing hockey for 20 years, and you know those things are there” said H.Sedin.

« We need to surprise those guys who hit at the head, we have now come to that point.  We need to do it even if the guys say they did not do it on purpose or name this as an accident.  We need to start somewhere” he added.

“I don’t think that the players know where the limit stands” he concluded.
