    بيان تضامن مع السينمائي و الناشط الثقافي عبد الرحمان لاهي

    نحنُ الناشطين الثقافيّين والأساتذة الجامعيين والكتّاب والفنانين الموقّعين أدناه،  نتابعُ منذ مُدة، و بقلقٍ بالغ، خبرَ احتجاز السينمائي والناشط الثقافي الموريتاني عبد الرحمن لاهي، للتّحقيق معه بسبب ورُود اسمه في تحقيقٍ مع إحدى المتهمات في قضية اختلاس أموال عمومية. هذا، و لأنّنا نحترمُ العدالة، ونثقُ في نزاهتها بنفس الدرجة التي نثقُ فيها ببراءة الأستاذ عبد الرحمان لاهي، فقد اعتبرنا قرار الاعتقال خطأ عابرًا أو سُوء تقديرٍ من الجهات التي أمرت به، سيتم تصحيحُه حال عرْض المعني بالأمر على أنظار التحقيق، خاصة بعد أن اعترفت المتهمة الرئيسة في الملف بالمنسوب إليها.  غير أنه للأسف، انقضت شهور طويلة دون أن يتمّ ذلك، وهو ما جعل الصمت يحكُـم بقبضته على هذا الملف وتتعطّـل، بالتالي، حرية الأستاذ عبد الرحمان لاهي. وتتعطّـل معها خدمته العمومية المشهود له بها في المجال الثقافي والفني والسينمائي، والتي درج على تقديمها لفائدة الشباب و عامّة الجمهور بموريتانيا.   هذا، وفي انتظـار أنْ تتضّحَ أسبابُ اعتقال الأستاذ عبد الرحمان لاهي، و تتمَّ محاكمتُه وفق قواعد العدالة النزيهة، نودّ أن نعلِن عن تضامننا المطلق معه مُلتمسين من السلطات الموريتانية التعجيل بمحاكمته. إننا نحن الموقعين أسفله، سنظلّ مُتابعين، بكلّ مسؤولية، لحالة الأستاذ عبد الرحمان لاهي بتنسيق مع الإرادات الحرة والشريفة، من نشطاء الحقل الثقافي والفنّي والسينمائي، داخل موريتانيا وخارجها إلى حين إطلاق سراحه و إنصافه من الاتهامات المنسوبة إليه، واثقين في نزاهته، متيقّنين من قُدرته على هزم أيّ محاولة للنيل من سُمعته ومكانته الثقافية والفنيّة، التي بناها عبر مسارٍ طويل من التّضحية ونكران الذات، وبنى، من خلالها لبلده موريتانيا، صورة البلد المتطلع لنهضة ثقافية وفنية يشارك فيها أبناؤها وبناتها، ولا تغتصب فيها، خلف الأبواب، حقوقُهم في التعبير الحر، مثيرين انتباه السلطات المختصّة أن اعتقال الأستاذ لاهي و تأخير عرْض ملفّه على أنظار القضاء لا يَضرّ بسمعة أحد أبرز الفاعلين الثقافيين والسينمائيّين في موريتانيا فحسب، بل وفي القارة الإفريقية والمنطقة العربية على حدّ سواء، فيما هو يضرّ بصورة موريتانيا، ويُسيئ لسمْعتها الدولية

Déclaration de solidarité

avec le cinéaste et militant culturel Abderrahmane Lahy    

Nous soussignés militants culturels, universitaires, écrivains et artistes, avons suivi avec une grande inquiétude la nouvelle de l’arrestation et de la détention du cinéaste et militant culturel mauritanien Abderrahmane Lahy, interpelé  suite à la citation de son nom  dans une enquête sur une affaire de détournement de fonds publics.   Compte tenu de notre respect de la justice et  de notre confiance en son intégrité, au même titre que notre pleine et totale confiance  en l'innocence du professeur Abderrahmane Lahy, nous considérons  cette décision d'arrestation  comme une méprise fortuite ou une erreur d’estimation des autorités qui l'ont ordonnée, et espérons que cette méprise sera corrigée dans les plus brefs délais.  Cependant Malheureusement, plusieurs mois se sont regrettablement écoulés sans que l’affaire ne soit jugée devant les tribunaux .En conséquence, le dossier sommeille dans un silence pesant, et le professeur Abderrahmane Lahy se trouve toujours privé de liberté.  Son importante activité dans les domaines culturel, artistique et cinématographique est à cause de cela paralysée, privant ainsi les jeunes et le grand public de la grande dynamique suscitée par son action continuelle en faveur de la culture de son pays.  En attendant que les raisons de l'arrestation du professeur Abderrahmane Lahy soient élucidées, et que l’affaire soit jugée rapidement  selon les règles  d’une justice équitable, nous tenons à assurer notre collègue et ami de notre solidarité absolue, et  demandons aux autorités mauritaniennes d’accélérer son procès.

Declaration of Solidarity

With Filmmaker and Cultural Activist Abderrahmane Lahy  

We, the cultural activists, university professors, writers and artists who have signed our names below, have been following with great concern the news of the detention of the Mauritanian filmmaker and cultural activist Abderrahmane Lahy who is being investigated because his name had emerged in connection with one of the defendants in a case involving embezzlement of public funds.   As we revere justice and have as much faith in its fairness as we do in the innocence of Professor Lahy, we initially believed that his detention was the result of an inadvertent error or misjudgement on the part of the agency that ordered the arrest and that the mistake would be rectified as soon he was presented before a court. Unfortunately, several months have passed since then and, instead of a hearing, a cloak of silence has enveloped the matter. Meanwhile, Professor Lahy has remained deprived of his liberty, obstructing, in turn, the widely recognized cultural, artistic and cinematic services that he has long provided for young people and the public in general in Mauritania.   As we continue to await clarification on the causes of Professor Lahy's detention and to expect that he will be tried in accordance with the principles of due process, we, the undersigned, declare our absolute solidarity with him and appeal to Mauritanian authorities to expedite his trial. We will also continue to assume our full responsibility to monitor the circumstances of Professor Lahy in coordination with free and honourable activists in culture, arts and cinema, both inside Mauritania and abroad, until he is released and cleared of all allegations against him.   We have no doubts whatsoever about Abderrahmane Lahy's honesty and integrity and are certain that he will be able to defeat any attempt to tarnish the excellent reputation and standing he has built for himself through his lengthy record of unstinting dedication and self-sacrifice in the field of culture and the arts. In the course of his career, he has simultaneously worked to build for his country, Mauritania, the image of a nation that aspires to a cultural and artistic renaissance to which all citizens can contribute with the assurance that their rights to the freedoms of opinion and expression will not be trampled upon behind closed doors. We therefore would like to draw the attention of the competent Mauritanian authorities to the fact that the ongoing detention of Professor Lahy not only harms an eminent cultural worker and filmmaker whose reputation extends beyond Mauritania to the whole of Africa and the Arab region, but also harms Mauritania's image and international reputation.
